In reply to your letter dated the 21st. November, 1914,
I have the honour to request that I may be allowed to be transferrei from Hong Kong to some other healthier Colony.
I have been in Hong Kong for over eighteen years, During that time I have received treatment in the Government Civil Hospital of that Colony at least fifteen times, suffer- ing from diseases dus to a tropical climate.
I enclose a medical certificate from Dr J. V. Atkinson, late Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital, and prin- oipal Civil Wedical Officer of Hong Kong.
Pending such possible transfer, I request that I may
be allowed extension of leave of three months on meiical
grounis, as I am advised that it would be unwise for me to apeni another Summer in Hong Kong.
In conclusion I wouli state that for urgent privata reasons it would be of advantage to me to be invalidel from
the service, as I have only heard a few days ago of the death
of my brother, Staff Sergeant B. J. Farrell, on the staff of the Indian Contingent at the front, and it will be incumbent
